This 1973 Porsche 911E coupe was purchased new by the current owner at South Shore Porsche/Audi of Hewlett, New York on August 22, 1973. Finished in Irish Green over black leatherette, this 911 now shows 95k miles and is powered by the numbers-matching 2.4-liter fuel-injected flat-six, which is mated to the original 915 5-speed manual gearbox. A rust preventative treatment from Ziebart was applied three months after delivery, and power windows were equipped from new along with tinted glass, fender molding, and Recaro sport seats. 15 Fuchs alloys have been added, as have SSI heat exchangers and a remote oil cooler. A cosmetic refresh was recently carried out as described below, and the selling dealer has serviced the car since the mid 1990s. This 911E is now being offered with service records, original sales documentation, the factory wheels, a Porsche CoA, and a clear New Jersey title.
The original owner was a member of the North New Jersey Region PCA, with whom he attended various track and autocross events in the Northeast. In the late 1970s, the car rolled over in a run-off area at Lime Rock Park during a track event and sustained damage to the roof, windshield, and one pillar. Porsche Specialist John Paterek of Chatham, New Jersey performed the repair, which included the installation of a replacement factory roof skin from the cowl to the engine cover.
A cosmetic refurbishment was carried out within the last six months, including a bare-metal repaint in the original Irish Green (15). Replacement stainless rocker trim is fitted along with a set of H4 headlights. Refurbished 15 Fuchs alloys wear Pirelli rubber, and the original bumperettes and sealed beam headlamps are included in the sale along with the original 15 cookie cutter wheels.
Additional in-process photos of the recent repaint have been included in the gallery below.
The cabin features factory power windows and black leatherette Recaro sport seats. New sun visors and charcoal carpet have been installed in within the past two months, and a 1980s Alpine head unit and aftermarket 3-spoke steering wheel are also fitted.
The original owner indicated that approximately half of the indicated miles were added before 1988. 95k miles are currently shown on the 5-digit odometer.
The 2.4-liter flat-six remains equipped with Bosch MFI and comes paired with a Type 915 gearbox. A Petronix Ignitor has been added along with an aftermarket front-mounted oil cooler, SSI headers, and a Dansk muffler. Service has been managed by the selling dealer since 1996, and notable work included a top-end rebuild at 82k miles in 2013. An oil change and brake fluid flush were performed in 2018, and a folder containing over 35 service records is included with the sale.
Stamping #6231733 is shown above and matches both the service booklet and CoA, confirming the engine as original. Transmission stamping #339624 can be seen in the gallery below.
Stainless steel brake hoses, Turbo tie rods, and an aftermarket set of spherical tie rod ends have all be installed. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below.
The factory tool roll and jack reside in the front compartment, and the electrical system has been converted to a single battery. Rust is present in the front latch panel as highlighted below.
The original sales invoice from South Shore Porsche/Audi shows that the car was delivered with special paint, tinted glass, electric windows, engine compartment light, Recaro sport seats, and a rear stabilizer bar. The total price when new was just under $11k.
The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms the original colors and powertrain numbers. Service records are included in the sale along with the stamped service booklet and other early documentation as shown in the gallery below. The car is currently titled with the original owner and is being offered on consignment, though it will be re-titled in the dealers name prior to transfer to the new owner.
