This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is finished in Guards Red with a Parchment interior and spent its life in Illinois before being acquired in November 2017 by the selling dealer. Power is from a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a G50 5-speed manual transaxle, and factory and aftermarket equipment includes sport seats and an Alpine stereo with replacement speakers. Receipts show a $6,500 engine-out service and installation of a new clutch in March 2018. Now located in South Dakota, this Targa shows just under 72k miles and is offered with partial service records, clean Carfax and AutoCheck reports, and a clear South Dakota title.
The Guards Red exterior is described by the seller as having been repainted, and the Carfax and AutoCheck reports both show an accident-free history. Replacement front and rear hood shocks were fitted in March of this year.
Black Fuchs wheels are mounted with Dunlop Signature tires dated to 2011 according to the seller. The Targa top is pictured mounted above and from the inside in the gallery below. A top removal tool is included with the car.
The interior is finished in Parchment leather with factory sport seats and a black dashboard. The seller notes that gauges and accessories work as they should with exception of the cruise control. Receipts show an air conditioning service in April 2018 and the system is said to work well.
The 6-digit odometer shows just under 72k miles, about 400 of which have been added during the sellers ownership. An Alpine stereo is present on the dash in place of the original radio, and aftermarket door speakers have also been installed.
The 3.2-liter flat-six was removed for service in March 2018 due to worn valves. Receipts below show over $6,500 in work performed since December 2017 including:
Disassembled engine, machine work to grind valves, reinstalled engine
Replaced valve guides
Set cam timing and adjust valves
Replaced oil pressure switch, oil drain tubes, oil line from tank to thermostat, cam housing oil line
Machine cut flywheel
Replaced rear main seal
Installed new clutch kit, replaced pilot bearing, upgraded release bearing guide tube
New air conditioning retrofit kit, belt, oil hose
Replaced air filter, oil, thermostat, spark plugs
Replaced engine compartment insulator
A video of the engine running is provided above. Shifting is through a Getrag G50 5-speed manual transaxle.
Additional images of the undercarriage are provided in the gallery below. The car comes with a spare tire, original books, and jacking equipment.
The Carfax and AutoCheck reports both show an accident-free history and indicate Illinois registration from 1987 until acquisition by the selling dealer in 2017.
Service receipts are included back to 2003 and show over $16k in maintenance including the recent valve work and clutch replacement.
A driving video is provided above, with a second available here.
